Safer Drivers Course Wollongong

Book up 20 log book hours for a 5 hour course!

The Safer Drivers Course is designed to help learner drivers develop extra skills when it comes to being safe on the road. A NSW Government initiative, the Safer Drivers Course is designed to help young drivers stay safe when they are driving independently after passing their test, getting their P’s and beyond. 

The course aims to provide young drivers with the knowledge and skills to help them employ best practices for safe driving. An added bonus is that you get to add 20 log book hours for only 5 hours of real-time training!

Who is eligible for the Safer Drivers Course?

The safer drivers Course is available to eligible to drivers under the age of 25 who hold a current learners licence in NSW.

You must have completed at least 50 log book hours, including some night time hours, but excluding any “3 for1” bonus hours accrued through lessons with a driving instructor.

If you are ineligible for the Safer Drivers Course, you can still book in for regular driving lessons with our qualified instructors.

What will I learn in the Safer Drivers Course?

Eligible learner drivers will learn how to manage their speed better, how to identify and move into a safe gap, become more aware of hazards and how to deal with them, identify and use safe distances between vehicles, and how to maintain focus and drive safely despite surrounding distractions.

What does the Safer Drivers Course involve?

The Safer Drivers Course consists of 2 Modules.

The First Module consists of a 3 hour theory workshop with up to 12 participants. The theory is delivered in a classrom style set up via presentations, group discussions, and other activities that get the participants thinking about hazards, risk taking behaviours and ways that they can identify them and apply strategies to help reduce these dangers while driving.

Young drivers transitioning from supervised driving to driving on their own can be at greater risk of being involved in a motor vehicle accident. During the course you will learn some background about why you are  at a higher risk durning this period. You will learn how to identify and mitigate risks while driving. 

The Second Module is a 2 hour practical lesson which allows you the chance to hone the skills you have learned about in module 1. Two participants along with the accredited facilitator spend two hours working on practical skills focusing on low risk driving strategies. 

How much does the Safer Drivers Course cost?

The Safer Drivers Course is very affordable at only $140 for the whole course. This includes five hours of face to face and practical training and twenty log book hours.
